On Friday 22 October 2021, H.E. Reuben Gauci presented credentials as
Malta’s Ambassador to Nepal, to the President of Nepal, the Right Honorable Mrs
Bidya Devi Bhandari at the Presidential Palace in the
Nepalese Capital of Kathmandu. He was accompanied by
his spouse, Dr. Olga V. Gauci and the
Honorary Consul of Malta in Nepal, Mr Dinesh Shrestha .
Serving as Malta’s High Commissioner of the Republic of Malta to India, H.E. Reuben Gauci travelled to Kathmandu, Nepal within
the period 20-24 October 2021 in order to submit credentials
in view of the fact that the High Commission of Malta to India is also accredited as Malta’s
Embassy to the neighbouring country of Nepal.
During his visit, Ambassador Gauci also
met with the Foreign Permanent Secretary of Nepal,
H.E. Bharat Raj Paudyal and the Ambassador of the European Union to Nepal,
H.E. Nona Deprez. He also spoke to Nepali journalists about
Malta-Nepal relations and to Nepali Business People on the potential of trade
between Nepal and Malta.
Malta
and Nepal established diplomatic relations on 25 September 1983. Nepal is a landlocked
country in Asia situated in
the Himalayas. There are currently around 2000 Nepali
workers in Malta.
Ambassador
Reuben Gauci showed his sincere appreciation to the Honorary Consul of Malta in
Nepal, Mr Dinesh Shrestha and thanked him for all the work he did for Malta in
Nepal since his appointment as Honorary Consul in
2008, auguring him more fruitful years of service ahead.
