Lecture on Malta-India Connections commemorating the 60th Year of Diplomatic Relations

On Tuesday 14 May 2024, the High Commission of Malta in New Delhi, India collaborated with the Indian Council for World Affairs to set up an interactive lecture on Malta-India Relations. The lecture was held in commemoration of the 60th Year of India-Malta Diplomatic Relations,  which year commenced following the 59th Anniversary of Malta-India Diplomatic Relations on 10 March 2024.


The interactive lecture was chaired by Ambassador H.E. Ms Vijay Thakur Singh, and featured interventions by the High Commissioner of Malta to India H.E. Reuben Gauci, Former High Commissioner of India to Malta  H.E. Anil Trigunayat and Deputy Head of Mission at the High Commission of Malta to India Mr. Ivan Vassallo.


During his intervention, High Commissioner Reuben Gauci noted how the diplomatic relationship between Malta and India grew from strength to strength and gained momentum in the last few years. At the end of the lecture, the High Commissioner was asked on various questions by the audience, on several aspects of the relationship between Malta and India.


Former Indian High Commissioner to Malta, Mr Anil Trigunayat, spoke about his experience as a non-resident High Commissioner to Malta resident in Tripoli, whilst Deputy Head of Mission at the High Commission of Malta to India Mr. Ivan Vassallo gave an interesting and  fascinating lecture on historical connections between India and Malta dating back to the  nineteenth century.


A reception ensued in which the Maltese drinks: Cisk 0.0 and Go and Fun were served.
