Ambassador Roberto Pace visited
the Arab Centre for Specialised Media for People with Disabilities where he was
welcomed by Mr Mohamed Azab, the organisation’s Executive Director. After meeting
the staff at the Centre, Ambassador Pace was hosted to lunch at Dans Le Noir – Cairo, a
restaurant in which guests eat in complete darkness, accompanied and served by blind
guides. This unique concept aims to familiarise guests with the reality as
experienced by blind persons as well as teach them how to focus on flavours,
smells and textures.
Ambassador Pace thanked the staff
for this unusual but welcome experience and observed how timely it was, hot on
the heels of the visit of the Hon. Julia Farrugia Portelli, Minister for Inclusion,
Social Wellbeing and Voluntary Organisations, which gave fresh impetus to
cooperation between Malta and Egypt in the field of persons with disabilities.
Ambassador Pace was accompanied by Mrs. Bojana
Dimitrovska, spouse, and Mrs. Lina Al Nafouri, Deputy Ambassador and Consul.
