On Thursday, 23 May 2024, the Embassy of Malta in Tel Aviv welcomed a group of high school students from Ironi Hey High School in Tel Aviv, led by their Diplomacy teacher, Ms. Karen Neuberger. This exceptional visit was part of the school's unique initiative to provide students with unparalleled real-world insights into international relations and diplomatic practices.
During their visit, the students received a presentation that delved into the multifaceted role of diplomacy and the operations of the Embassy of Malta. The presentation was designed to enrich the student's understanding of global diplomatic efforts and Malta’s specific contributions to international relations.

Ambassador Cecilia Attard-Pirotta addressed the students, highlighting the pivotal role of the Embassy in fostering strong bilateral ties between Malta and Israel through dialogue and mutual understanding. "By moving ideas and encouraging discussions, we are not just building stronger ties between the people of Malta and the people of Israel, but we are also contributing to the global dialogue on peace and security," said Ambassador Attard-Pirotta. The Ambassador also took the opportunity to highlight the important role of women in diplomacy.

In her remarks, Ambassador Attard-Pirotta highlighted Malta’s active role in international affairs, particularly its tenure in the United Nations Security Council between 2023 and 2024, as well as Malta’s role as Chair-In-Office of the OSCE in 2024. She provided insights into the strategic priorities and diplomatic efforts of the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade, underscoring Malta's commitment to global peace and security.

The students were also addressed by Mr. Charles Calleja, First Secretary at the Embassy of Malta in Tel Aviv. Mr. Calleja offered an overview of the Embassy's responsibilities, the historical and economic landscape of Malta, and the global reach of Maltese diplomacy. He also gave the students a deeper understanding of the diplomatic profession and encouraged them to consider careers in this dynamic field.

Ms. Karen Neuberger, the Diplomacy teacher leading the group, expressed her profound gratitude to the Embassy for providing such a transformative educational experience. "This visit has not only given our students a unique opportunity to learn about diplomacy firsthand and to engage with experienced diplomats, but it has also significantly deepened their understanding of this complex field. It is an inspiration for many who are considering futures in international relations," she said.
The visit to the Embassy of Malta is a testament to the enduring educational cooperation between Malta and Israel, reflecting a shared commitment to nurturing the next generation of diplomats and leaders.
