Call for Artists for the production of an Objet d’Art commemorating Malta’s non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council 2023-2024

Reference Number:  , Press Release Issue Date: Jun 24, 2022

In view of Malta's Election on 9 June 2022 to serve a two-year term, between 2023 and 2024, in the United Nations Security Council, the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade is issuing a call for artists to propose draft works of art commemorating this achievement in the history of Malta's foreign policy.

The Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade believes that through the arts, this achievement can serve to further build our diplomatic relations and hence continue to make our voices heard for the need of rule of peace between all regions.

The bozzetto should reflect the three pillars that Malta has put forward in its candidacy for election to this Council; Security, Sustainability and Solidarity. After the applicants have submitted their draft, an independent committee will be making its choices so that the winning draft can then be transformed into a complete work of art.

The selected work of art is intended to be exhibited in several foreign cities where there are Maltese Government embassies, including New York, Brasilia, Beijing, Addis Ababa, Sydney and Geneva.

All bozzetto submissions must be made by no later than noon on Friday 30 September 2022. Attached to this press release is also the call and application for those interested.
