During
an official visit to Malta, the Special Envoy of the President of the Republic
of Korea, Jong-hoon Kim, met with the Minister for Foreign
and European Affairs and Trade, Ian Borg, to discuss with him the candidacy of
Korea for the 2030 EXPO in Busan.
In
a meeting at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Mr Jong-hoon Kim explained why Korea is moving forward to host this
world fair in 2030. The Korean representative stated that Malta and Korea have
always had strong diplomatic relations and he looks forward to continuing to
improve them. He claimed that as part of its candidacy, the Republic of Korea
will be focusing a lot on the use of technology and the inclusiveness it can
bring.
Minister
for Foreign Affairs Ian Borg reiterated that Malta fully believes in this type
of fair because it is an important and essential platform to showcase what
one’s country has to offer. He recalled how Malta participated in the Dubai
EXPO a few months ago and looks forward to participating in the Osaka Expo in
Japan in 2025.
Dr Borg wished every
success to Mr Jong-hoon Kim for this candidacy and explained how Malta will be evaluating
all the proposals to then make a final decision.
