On Tuesday, 31 January 2023, Malta’s Ambassador to Israel, Ms. Cecilia Attard-Pirotta, together with Mr Charles Calleja, First Secretary at the Embassy of Malta in Tel Aviv, visited the Hen Young Ambassadors School in Petah Tikva, in central Israel. At this school, students of ages ranging from Primary age to High School from across all sectors of Israeli Society, get together to study matters related to Diplomacy.
The Ambassador and Mr Calleja also had the opportunity to deliver a presentation to High School students on Diplomatic Life, and life in Malta. “Negotiation is a key skill that every Diplomat has to master” said Attard-Pirotta, “Diplomacy does not only manifest between Nation States, but also in our day-to-day life, as we negotiate through every obstacle that may present itself in our life.” The Ambassador also took the opportunity to highlight the work being conducted by the Maltese diplomatic mission in Israel, as well as the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade in Valletta. Ambassador Attard-Pirotta took the opportunity to promote more female participation in diplomacy.
The visit was then concluded with the Ambassador and Mr Calleja distributing a number of publications on Malta and Gozo. The students are currently preparing for this year’s edition of the TIMEMUN Model UN conference which will be held between the 19 and 21 February 2023, at the American International School in Even Yehuda, Israel. Around 350 young delegates from 9 schools in Israel and two schools from overseas are expected to attend this conference.
